Research Progress in the Early Warning of Chicken Diseases by Monitoring Clinical Symptoms

Global animal protein consumption has been steadily increasing as a result of population growth and the demand for nutritious diets. The poultry industry provides large portion meat eggs human consumption. early detection warning infectious diseases play critical role in breeding production systems, improving welfare reducing losses. However, inadequate methods prevention farms sometimes fail to prevent decreased productivity even widespread mortality. health status is often reflected by its individual physiological, physical behavioral clinical symptoms, such higher body temperature resulting from fever, abnormal vocalization caused respiratory disease behaviors due pathogenic infection. Therefore, use technologies symptom can monitor broilers laying hens continuous, noninvasive automated way, potentially assist decision-making process. This review summarized recent literature on highlighted symptom-monitoring sick poultry. concluded that current are already showing their superiority manual inspection, but symptom-based monitoring systems have not fully utilized on-farm detection.
